Choose how you would like a donation to be used

When making a donation to The Village Project, you can guide how the funds are used.

Organization receiving the donation

This is the most common and recommended way to direct your donation.

You can choose whether your donation can support:

  • Any scholarship-approved activity on Guildara Marketplace.
  • Scholarship-approved activities offered by a specific organization.

Selecting an organization allows you to support a provider you already know and trust while still giving families flexibility to use the funds across that organization's eligible programs.

If you are an organization offering activities on Guildara, this is the way you can start your own dedicated scholarship fund.

Additional customization options (optional)

You can further restrict how your donation is used by selecting one or more of the following criteria:

  • Location: Useful if an organization operates in multiple locations or if you want your donation to support activities only within a specific area.
  • Category: Useful if you would like to support a specific type of activity, such as sports, music, art or wellness.
  • Label: Labels allow for more specific targeting, such as "Baseball," "Summer Camp," or "Beginner Program.". Keep in mind that labels are created and managed by each provider. Labels may be added, removed, or changed over time, and there is no guarantee that a particular label is assigned to an eligible activity.
  • Activity: You can restrict the donation to one or more specific scholarship-approved published and public activities. Keep in mind that activities may be seasonal, archived, or temporarily unavailable. If an activity does not have any upcoming schedules, the donation cannot be allocated.

Use additional criteria carefully

Additional criteria make your donation more specific, but they also make it harder for the funds to be allocated.

If multiple criteria are selected, all conditions must be met before the donation can be applied.

Example 1

Label = Baseball

Activity = Great Basketball

The donation will only apply if the activity matches the selected activity and contains the selected label.

Example 2

Location = Miami

Category = Math/Technology

The donation will only apply to scholarship-approved activities located in Miami that also belong to the Math/Technology category.

Because all selected criteria must be satisfied, highly customized donations are more likely to remain unused.

What can make a donation unusable?

A donation may become unusable if:

  • An activity is archived.
  • An activity no longer has upcoming schedules.
  • A label is removed from an activity.
  • A label is deleted.
  • The selected combination of criteria no longer exists.

For example, if a donation is restricted to a specific summer camp and that camp is archived after the season ends, the donation can no longer be allocated until the criteria are updated.

Our recommendation for donors

For most donors, we recommend selecting only the organization receiving the donation and avoiding additional restrictions unless there is a specific reason to do so.

This gives families the greatest opportunity to benefit from your contribution and reduces the likelihood that funds will remain unused.

Our recommendation for providers

Log in to Guildara periodically and review your Donations tab to monitor how donation funds are being allocated.

If a donation remains unused for an extended period of time, consider updating its criteria so the funds can support a broader range of your scholarship-approved offerings.

*The Village Project team periodically reviews donation allocations and may contact you to discuss opportunities to update donation criteria when funds are unable to be allocated. However, we encourage providers to regularly review their donations and make adjustments when appropriate

*Regardless of the criteria selected, scholarship funds can only be applied to registrations for participants under 18 who demonstrate financial need, in activities  approved for scholarships under Guildara's Promotion Policy offered by organizations approved to operate on Guildara.
